Skyways' Head of Flight Operations, Drew Talley, has joined the Unmanned Safety Institute's first Industry Advisory Board. He is one of twelve inaugural members named in USI's September 17, 2026 announcement.
USI has spent more than a decade preparing thousands of learners for the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) workforce. The board will help USI keep its education, training and credentials aligned with operational practice and employer needs. Members will advise on curriculum, emerging job roles and skills gaps, with USI retaining responsibility for its programs and certifications.
Drew is a U.S. Army veteran who has worked in commercial unmanned aircraft operations since 2017, including years supporting pipelines and energy infrastructure. He joined Skyways as a Senior Flight Operator in November 2025 and was named Head of Flight Operations in June 2026.
At Skyways, Drew leads the flight operations team and oversees operator hiring and training. His team uses SkyNav, the company's in-house flight-operations software, which is built so a single operator can supervise multiple aircraft. Operators run missions through SkyNav, complete preflight checklists and make the decision to launch.
Drew will bring that operating and hiring experience to the board's work on preparing the next generation of UAS professionals.
Congratulations, Drew.
